Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Daisy Dane Boutique collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit our website, place an order, or contact us.

Daisy Dane Boutique is operated by HMU Commerce, a company registered in the Netherlands (Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 42132513). HMU Commerce is responsible for your personal information. Our store is powered by Shopify.

By using our website, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. If there is a conflict between our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, this Privacy Policy applies to how we handle your personal information.

Which laws apply

We sell to customers across Canada, so we handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply, provincial privacy laws such as those of Quebec, Alberta and British Columbia. Because HMU Commerce is based in the Netherlands, we also comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Personal information we collect

Depending on how you use our website, we may collect:

  • Contact details: your name, billing and shipping address, phone number and email address.
  • Order information: the products you view, add to your cart, purchase, return or exchange, and your order history.
  • Payment information: payment method, transaction details and payment confirmation. Card payments are processed by our payment providers. We do not store your full card number.
  • Account information: your login details, preferences and settings, if you create an account.
  • Communications: the information you share when you email us or use our contact form.
  • Device and usage information: your IP address, browser type, device information, and how you interact with our website, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

Where we get your information

  • Directly from you, for example when you place an order, create an account, or contact us.
  • Automatically, through cookies and similar technologies when you use our website.
  • From our service providers, such as Shopify, payment providers and shipping carriers, when they process information on our behalf.

How we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • Process and deliver your orders, including payments, shipping, returns, exchanges and refunds.
  • Provide customer support and respond to your questions.
  • Run and improve our website, such as remembering your cart and preferences and understanding how visitors use our store.
  • Prevent fraud and keep our store secure, including checking orders for signs of fraud.
  • Send marketing emails or text messages, only if you have given us permission (see "Marketing" below).
  • Show you relevant advertising on other websites and social media, based on your activity on our store (see "Cookies and advertising" below).
  • Meet legal obligations, such as keeping financial records and responding to lawful requests from authorities.

Under the GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases: performing our contract with you (orders and delivery), your consent (marketing and non-essential cookies), our legitimate interests (fraud prevention, security and improving our store), and legal obligations (tax and accounting records).

Marketing

We only send you marketing emails or text messages if you have given us permission, for example by subscribing at checkout or through a sign-up form. Every marketing message includes an easy way to unsubscribe. After you unsubscribe, we may still send you messages about your orders or account.

Cookies and advertising

We use cookies and similar technologies to make our website work, to understand how visitors use it, and to show you relevant ads. Advertising partners such as Meta and Google may receive information about your activity on our store for this purpose. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before placing non-essential cookies. You can change your cookie preferences at any time through the cookie banner on our website or your browser settings.

We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share your information with

We only share your personal information when it's needed for the purposes described above. This includes:

  • Payment providers, to process your payments securely.
  • Fulfillment partners and suppliers, to prepare and ship your order.
  • Shipping carriers, to deliver your order and handle returns.
  • Advertising and analytics partners, such as Meta and Google, if you have allowed this where consent is required.
  • Authorities or legal advisors, when required by law or to protect our rights.
  • A buyer or successor, if our business is sold or merged.

Our service providers may only use your information to provide their services to us.

Relationship with Shopify

Our store is hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes personal information about your use of our website to provide and improve its services. We also use certain Shopify features that combine information about your interactions with our store with information from other merchants and Shopify. In those cases, Shopify is responsible for that processing. You can read more in the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and exercise your rights through the Shopify Privacy Portal.

International transfers

Your personal information may be stored and processed outside your province or outside Canada, including in the Netherlands and other EU countries, the United States, and other countries where our service providers and suppliers operate. Information stored in another country may be accessible to courts and authorities there under local law. When we transfer information, we use contracts and other safeguards to make sure it stays protected in line with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy. Order and payment records are kept for 7 years to meet Dutch tax and accounting requirements. If you unsubscribe from marketing, we stop using your information for marketing right away. Account information is kept until you ask us to delete your account.

How we protect your information

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, such as secure (encrypted) connections and limited access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please don't send sensitive information through unsecured channels such as regular email.

Children

Our store is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province or territory. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we'll delete it.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time, for example for marketing or cookies. This does not affect processing that already took place.
  • Ask us to delete your personal information, unless we are required by law to keep it.
  • Receive a copy of your information in a commonly used format (data portability), where applicable.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, including processing based on our legitimate interests (under the GDPR).
